Khaidi No 150 Review :
Finally the long wait of 9+ years has to come to an end. Yes, Boss is back with a bang. Megastar Chiranjeevi’s long awaited 150th film “Khaidi No 150” amongst huge expectations has hit the screens across the globe. As aware this film is the official remake of Tamil Superstar Vijay’s blockbuster “Kathi” directed by AR Murugadoss.
Film starts with the jail scenes where Kathi Seenu (Chiru) escapes from the jail in a comedy sequence. He then meets with his assistant Malli (Ali) and plans to leave for Bangkok to escape from the Police and at the airport meets his love Lakshmi (Kajal). Seenu drops his plans and stays back for his love interest and comes to know about another man Sankar (Chiru), who looks just like him. Seenu enters the place of Shankar and plans to make some money playing as Sankar. Seenu comes to know about the great fight of Sankar against the corporate to protect farmers and his village. Did he achieve his goal? What happens to Sankar, his village and the farmers? This forms the rest of the story.
Needless to say about the acting skills and comic timing of Megastar Chiranjeevi. Character of Kathi Seenu, a small time thief is a tailor-made role for him. The other subtle role of Konidela Sivasankara Varaprasad aka Sankar is the key role. Though, the length of this role is small Chiru easily has shown the differentiation between the both roles. Somehow, I opine that the old and strong Chiranjeevi was missing. Kajal really did not have anything much to do. Other major roles were those of Ali and Brahmanandam as Doberman. Though a routine for them, the roles were carried on with ease but a disappointing comedy. The crucial role of the antagonist Corporate Agarwal played by Tarun Arora, should have been played by some other person for that to have been elevated.
First to mention is the banner Konidela Productions and producer Ram Charan. Production values are rich and good. Definitely why not, this is such prestigious project of his dad. Cherry should have taken some more care in terms of the output. The story by Murugadoss was definitely a proven success from Kollywood. But, for reasons director VV Vinayak seem to have failed to give his best. Reasons maybe the hype, come back for Megastar, pressure from various angles or any other. But, this film Khaidi No 150, somehow fails to be said in range with the grand 150th film for Chiranjeevi. Cinematography and editing were good, but gave an impression that they should have been better. Another major disappointment for fans was the music of the film by Rockstar Devisri Prasad. Already released audio of the film was just an average not really reaching out well. The background music in the film had great bits and pieces across the movie, but when it comes to a totality can just be said average.
On the whole Khaidi No 150, the comeback film of Megastar Chiranjeevi disappoints when compared with the hype and expectations. But otherwise, it can be rated as just an average film.
