After almost a long gap, RGV teamed up with Nagarjuna for an interesting cop drama which titled as Officer. The film has finally hit the screens amidst huge expectations, let’s see whether it impressed the audience or not.
Sivaji Rao(Nagarjuna) is a Hyderabad based officer who got posted to Mumbai to deal with the case of a corrupted cop called Pansari. He manages to arrest Pansari but he gets bail because of all his influence and rejoins the duty. From then he starts targeting Sivaji and the rest of the story is how Sivaji handles the situation and proves Pansari as a criminal once again.
Nagarjuna looks super fit and handsome in the role of a cop. Even at this age, he managed to steal the show. All his scenes with his daughter are nicely executed and the film starts with a promising note. The first half has some good moments like few case investigations and all.
One of the biggest drawbacks of the film is the main villain. The director should have chosen a well-known actor for that role. Except Nagarjuna none of the actors will impress the audience. The narration goes for a toss during the second half and the scenes in the second half are not that much interesting as second half. The basic drama is missing in the film.
Even though the film is made on a small budget the production values are good and the cinematography looks decent. The entire production design, Mumbai cop set up, and locations look realistic. Editing is decent and the dialogues are interesting. When coming to the direction, the director has done a half hearted job and the director who is popular for his selection of cast completely failed in this film.
On the whole, the film owns a good script but it gone wrong because of poor narration and weak cast. It will disappoint the fans of RGV who expected a film like Shiva from this combination. .
